Funeral Services for OPSO Lt. Rose Dillworth set for Saturday

Funeral services for Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office Lt. Rose Dillworth, who died in the line of duty, will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, at Little Zion Baptist Church, 200 Kenner Ave. in Kenner. Visitation begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m.

Expected to attend the funeral are OPSO officials, along with a contingent of Sheriff's Office personnel, including Lt. Dillworth's platoon, and an honor guard. Uniformed officers from other area law enforcement agencies have been invited to attend.

After the service at Little Zion, OPSO motorcycle officers will lead a motorcade to Providence Memorial Park , 8200 Airline Highway in Metairie, where Lt. Dillworth's remains will be laid to rest.

Lt. Dillworth, a 16-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, died as a result of a medical issue she sustained in the line of duty. On Dec. 3, Lt. Dillworth responded to a call for back up by another deputy inside the Orleans Justice Center. While on the scene, Lt. Dillworth complained of shortness of breath. She was attended to by medical staff and transported to University Medical Center where she died on Dec. 6. She was 51.

In memoriam, Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman has ordered OPSO flags be flown at half-staff, ending at sunset Monday, Dec. 18.
